The Adriatic Sea is the northernmost arm of the Mediterranean Sea. There are over 1,300 islands, mostly located along its eastern coast. The Adriatic collects a third of the fresh water flowing into the Mediterranean, that’s why salinity is lower than the Mediterranean's. It is warm sea and the surface water temperatures generally range from 12 °C to 24 °C. The sea is abundant in flora and fauna - more than 7,000 species are identified as native to the Adriatic. For this reasons fisheries and tourism are significant sources of income all along the Adriatic coast (Source: Wikipedia).
