There was a tree...

Image
In October trees and bushes end their fruit season. Oak trees lose their ripe acorns. It is time to celebrate and enjoy the colours. Golden Polish autumn – that’s the phrase commonly used to describe this season. During October a total change of colours takes place. Only coniferous trees retain their green colour, but the deciduous trees and shrubs are golden and rusty. The green disappears and gives place to bronze, red and yellow tones which create unique autumn aura of beautiful “Polish golden autumn”, especially during sunny weather. The period of leaves’ fall is prolonged in time, as different species loose their leaves at different times.  Polish autumn is truly beautiful and if you have a chance to visit our country during any of the fall months – do it! *  *  * This post is linked at: Our World Tuesday

Beech forest in the East Carpathian Biosphere Reserve

Image
The East Carpathian Biosphere Reserve is a transboundary protected area, designated as an area of global importance under UNESCO's Programme on Man and the Biosphere. It is located in the Eastern Carpathians on the territory of three countries: Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine. This reserve is formed by the combination of three national parks. It is the only extant designated trilateral biosphere reserve in Europe. The dominant tree species is beech (Fagus sylvatica).  Other common species (silver fir, sycamore, Norway maple, oak, elm, etc.) do not account for any significant percentage of forest cover. The beech forests of the East Carpathians represent an outstanding example of undisturbed, complex temperate forests. They contain an invaluable genetic reservoir of beech and many species associated and dependent on these forest habitats. The entire area of the Biosphere Reserve is built of flysch rocks.  The territory belongs in large part to the cool climate...

Simplicity

Image
There are several ways to achieve simplicity in a photograph. The most easy form is to place the subject against a neutral background like a backdrop or the sky. The second way to simplify an image is to simply get closer to your subject. The another way to increase the impact of an image is through careful use of color. Images with simpler color palettes are often more effective. There are other more complex techniques available, but all you need to do is remember to keep it simple. Your photos will be better as a result.

Nature waking up from hibernation

Leucojum Vernum In Poland spring begins in March and, although initially, it is rather cold, as the days progress it gets warmer. This is when vegetation season begins. Considered as typical of Poland is the occurrence of forespring season, which comes at the transition from winter to spring and is characterised by changeable weather and, apart from rains, fleeting snowfalls. Forespring is associated with the earliest plant phenomena, for instance, the flowering of the earliest perennials as well as of trees and shrubs that are still leafless. Early spring, beginning with the flowering of trees and shrubs that simultaneously develop leaves. Narcissus jonquilla Primula L. Caltha palustris ABC Wednesday

Karkonosze Mountains. Late autumn in the forest

Image
The Karkonosze Mountains are among the World Biosphere Reserves. In terms of the richness and rarity of flora, the Karkonosze rank third in Poland, after the Tatra Mountains and the Pieniny Mountains. The Karkonoski National Park protects many rare species facing extinction, among them endemic and relic species included in the Polish Red Book.  However, the easily accessible lower parts of the mountains have been significantly changed. The most heavily transformed by man is the flora in the lower subalpine level (400-800 m above sea level). There are mostly spruces here, introduced by man in the 19th century. Small fragments of primeval beech-fir-pine forest have been preserved in the area of National Park and other several places. ABC Wednesday
