Szrenica - summit in Karkonosze Mountains

Szrenica (1362 m a.s.l.) is a picturesque mountain peak situated in the western part of Karkonosze (Giant Mountains) on Polish and Czech border. Its name originates from the Polish word szron (frost). The peak is deforested, and it is built of finegrained granite which, due to weathering shaped standalone rocks and vaste granite fields, covering eastern part of the slope. There are rock formations with fantastic shapes, located below the summit. The most famous and sought after formations are the three pigs. There is a mountain hut on the peak and a mountain shelter on the slope. The peak is accessible by chair lift , and the slopes are used intensively for skiing.

  8. The view is lovely but the rocks look loose and perhaps unstable. I hope you were standing on a solid path when you made these photos! ;)
