Poznański was born on 25 August 1833 in Aleksandrów near Łódź, as the youngest son of Kalman Poznański. A year later, the Poznańskis moved to Lódź. In 1851 he married Leonia Hertz, daughter of the clerk of Jewish hospitals in Warsaw. This marriage enriches Izrael Poznański’s, a master of „weaving profession” at the time, fortune by a manufacturer worth 500 roubles. A settlement in the area of present-day Łódź had been first established in the 14th century, however, the real development of Łódź started with the industrial era. At the beginning of the 19th century Łódź became one of the Europe`s biggest and fastest growing textile industry centre (read more at:  Promised Land - Łódź, Poland ). The rapid development of the city in the second half of the 19th century was brought about by the rise of enormous industrialist fortunes. The city residences became expressions of the riches and power of the manufacturers. Wooden Architecture in Łódź, Poland

Open-air Museum of the Łódź Wooden Architecture is located on the main artery of Łódź – Piotrkowska Street (Poland). The collection includes 8 objects typical of architecture in Łódź from the turn of the 19th-20th century. These specimens include the old architecture of the city: church, summer villa, one-storey house for workers, wooden tram-stop and 4 craftsmen houses. You can see here presentation of a weaver workshop and active craftsman workshops (ceramic, paper etc.). The buildings were arranged along two streets covered with “cats’ heads” surface opening to the church cube. Styled elements of small architecture were cared for – lamps, well, signs with street names, etc.  The most most interesting object is summer villa, provided with a angular towers, cubes of verandas as well as the rest of the cubic corpse are made of glass. Izrael Poznański's Palace Łódź is a very interesting city located approximately 135 kilometres south-west of Warsaw - capital of Poland. In 14th-18th century Łódź was a small village, and then small and insubstantial town. The 19th century brought with it industrial development for Łódź. The immigrants came to the Promised Land (Ziemia obiecana, the city's nickname) from all over Europe, creating a multinational population with three dominating groups: Poles, Jews and Germans (in the 1930s the proportions of these nationalities was approximately 50%, 30% and 15%). During Łódź’s peak of prosperity its population was doubling every ten years. Jewish Cemetry In time of Word War II Łódź was attached to the German Reich. The local ghetto established by the Nazis as a prison for 200,000 Jews was eventually liquidated in 1944. Most of its inhabitants were murdered in the camps of Auschwitz and Theresienstadt.
